The identities of two Nepali students who died in a car accident on June 11 in Ontario, Canada, have been revealed.

The victims have been identified as 22-year-old Lakpa Yangji Sherpa from Bhojpur and Rajiv Shrestha from Kaski. Both had traveled to Canada in pursuit of higher education and a better future.
Lakpa was a nursing student, while Rajiv was studying Information Technology (IT). Reports indicate that the accident occurred shortly after they had completed their graduation ceremonies.
According to the Non-Resident Nepali Association Canada, Lakpa had recently completed her nursing studies at Fleming College in Ontario. Rajiv had been studying IT at Mohawk College.
Lakpa’s graduation ceremony at Fleming College was held on June 9 and 10. The two students were reportedly returning home after attending the ceremony when the accident occurred. Their SUV caught fire following the crash.
Citing statements from the Ontario Provincial Police reported by local media, Nepaltouch.com stated that the vehicle burst into flames after the collision. Both students died at the scene.
According to Jagan Sapkota, president of NRNA Canada, the bodies of both students are currently being kept at a hospital in Toronto. At the request of her family, the process of repatriating Lakpa’s body to Nepal has begun. A decision has not yet been made regarding where Rajiv’s funeral rites will be conducted.
