Michael Garrett, a senator from the U.S. state of North Carolina, has expressed interest in visiting Nepal. He made the commitment after accepting an invitation from Binod Regmi, the mayor of Kalika Municipality.

During Mayor Regmi’s visit to the United States, the invitation was formally delivered to Senator Garrett by Binay Aryal, a regional member of the Democratic Party in North Carolina. After receiving the invitation, Senator Garrett stated that he would visit Nepal if possible and expressed hope that the visit would help strengthen bilateral cooperation and relations.

Similarly, Mayor Regmi also met with Cyril Jefferson, mayor of High Point. During the meeting, Mayor Regmi shared information about ongoing efforts in Kalika Municipality aimed at strengthening local infrastructure and improving public services.
He particularly highlighted municipal initiatives such as the road naming system, house numbering program, and the expansion of emergency rescue services, which are expected to contribute to better governance and public safety.
The discussions also emphasized the importance of cooperation and experience-sharing among local governments from different countries. Officials discussed how municipalities can learn from one another in areas such as urban planning, public service delivery, and community engagement.
