Within a year of bringing the Royal Tulip Resort into operation in Chitwan, operator Rameshwar Shah has announced the launch of another five-star hotel in Janakpur.

Former Vice President of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), Rameshwar Shah—who has already established a strong presence in Nepal’s hospitality sector—has unveiled a new project to operate a five-star hotel in Janakpurdham under his leadership.
The project to build Janakpur’s first five-star hotel under Mithila Hospitality was inaugurated at a formal event by Shah and Dr. Upendra Mahato, founding president of NRNA. This announcement is expected to bring a new wave of enthusiasm to the tourism sector in Madhesh Province. Shah made this ambitious announcement just eight months after the Royal Tulip Resort in Chitwan came into operation.
This move clearly reflects his business vision and strong commitment to investing significantly in Nepal’s tourism industry. Encouraged by the success in Chitwan, he has now chosen Janakpur—a city of immense religious and cultural significance that has long lacked international-standard accommodation facilities.
The project will involve an investment of NPR 2 billion and is targeted for completion within three years, with the hotel expected to come into operation in April/May 2029 (Baisakh 2086). Spread over approximately 200,000 square feet of land, the built-up area will cover 120,000 square feet. The hotel will feature a total of 124 rooms, including 8 luxury suites, with a capacity of 372 beds. Investors in the project include Shah, former banker Gyanendra Dhungana, businessman Kaji Lama, Sudip Chaudhary, and Udayakant Jha.

In terms of facilities, the hotel will go beyond being just an accommodation center. It is planned as a comprehensive tourist destination. It will offer high-end restaurants with live kitchens, café lounges, a musical bar with live performances, and a rooftop pool bar. Facilities for business and social events will include conference and banquet halls, along with a business center. For health and recreation, there will be a multifunctional swimming pool, a well-equipped spa and health club, and a tennis court. Additional features such as an amphitheater, event hall, EV charging stations, and a children’s play area will give the hotel a distinctive identity.

The project is also expected to make a significant economic contribution. Once operational, the hotel will directly employ around 150 people, while also generating indirect employment and boosting local businesses and economic activities. The hotel will primarily target general tourists, religious visitors coming to Janaki Temple and the Ramayana Circuit, wedding organizers and participants, as well as business conference delegates.
With the launch of this hotel, Janakpur will achieve the historic distinction of becoming the first city in Madhesh Province to offer five-star hospitality services.
