The Nepal Medical Council on Friday revoked the registration certificates (licenses) of 19 doctors. Earlier this week, the council had already canceled the licenses of 17 doctors. With Friday’s action, a total of 36 doctors have lost their licenses this week.
According to Council Registrar Dr. Satish Kumar Dev, the licenses of 19 doctors who had renounced Nepali citizenship were canceled on Friday. He stated that a total of 36 doctors who gave up Nepali citizenship and obtained foreign passports have had their licenses revoked. Their names have also been removed from the council’s registration records.
“Under the Nepal Medical Council Act 2020, Regulations 2024, and the Nepal Citizenship Act 2063, it has been decided to remove from the council’s registry those doctors who have renounced Nepali citizenship and acquired foreign passports,” he said.
Among the 19 doctors whose licenses were canceled on Friday are individuals who acquired citizenship in the United Kingdom, Canada, the United States, New Zealand, Germany, Australia, and India. According to the council, those whose licenses were revoked include Dr. Sumindra Pun, Shailesh Kumar Jaiswal, Bhupen Khadka, and Aarti Ranabhat.
Similarly, Dr. Ramesh Raj Pahari, Sanjok Ghale, Rishiraj Baral, Dr. Prabhu Pandey, Tripti Maharjan, and Srijana Shrestha have also had their licenses canceled.
Others whose licenses were revoked include Dr. Sunita Bista, Deepa Malla, Saurab GC, Jenisa Shrestha, Prabhas Regmi, Deepika Gyawali, Hemu Chaurasia, Samiksha Sharma, and Manorama Pandey.
